I'm not even sure where to start with this one. This was one of the neatest things I've seen. At the end of Tom's ACSC year, they had a few days that they called the "Gathering of Eagles." They were able to listen to the experiences shared by these heroes that have previously served our country. At the end of the week they had a cookout in honor of all of them and you and your family could mingle and get autographs from these people. It was so cool.
The gentleman below is Bruce "Snake" Crandall. He is a retired U.S. Army officer who was awarded the Medal of Honor in 2007 for his heroic actions during the Battle of Ia Drang on November 14, 1965, in which he repeatedly flew an unarmed helicopter into enemy fire to bring in ammunition and supplies and evacuate the wounded. Crandall flew 22 flights that day, most of them under intense enemy fire, and a total of over 900 combat missions during the Vietnam War. If you have seen the movie "We Were Soldiers," then is the helicopter pilot that Greg Kinnear played. He is quite a character and so funny. It was an honor to meet him.

And this little lady was my favorite. She was the sweetest thing. She always had the biggest smile on her face and she would hold your hand as you talked to her. Her name is Elizabeth "Betty Wall" Strohfus.
